چکیده
Abstract This paper provides counterexamples for the slack enforcement mechanisms to handle segmented self-suspending real-time tasks by Lakshmanan and Rajkumar (Proceedings of Real-Time Embedded Technology Applications Symposium (RTAS), pp 3–12, 2010).

A Note on the Period Enforcer Algorithm for Self-Suspending Tasks
The period enforcer algorithm for self-suspending real-time tasks is a technique for suppressing the “backto-back” scheduling penalty associated with deferred execution. Originally proposed in 1991, the algorithm has attracted renewed interest in recent years. This note revisits the algorithm in the light of recent developments in the analysis of self-suspending tasks, carefully re-examines and...
متن کاملOpen Problems in Scheduling Self-Suspending Tasks
Self-suspension intervals are becoming increasingly common in various systems such as: (i) multi-core processors, where tasks running on one core have to synchronize with tasks running on other cores, (ii) heterogeneous ISA multi-core processors, where certain instructions can only be executed on specific processor cores, and (iii) systems with accelerated co-processors such as Digital Signal P...
متن کاملA Note on the Exact Schedulability Analysis for Segmented Self-Suspending Systems
This report considers a sporadic real-time task system with n sporadic tasks on a uniprocessor platform, in which the lowest-priority task is a segmented self-suspension task and the other higher-priority tasks are ordinary sporadic realtime tasks. Under fixed-priority preemptive scheduling, Nelissen et al. in ECRTS 2015 provided a mixed-integer linear programming (MILP) formulation to test whe...
متن کاملErrata: Timing Analysis of Fixed Priority Self-Suspending Sporadic Tasks
In the paper "Timing Analysis of Fixed Priority Self-Suspending Sporadic Tasks" published in ECRTS 2015, a MILP formulation is provided to compute an upper-bound on the worst-case response time (WCRT) of one selfsuspending task running concurrently with a set of higher priority non-self-suspending tasks. Section VI of that paper extends the MILP formulation to the case where the higher priority...
متن کاملA Note on Modeling Self-Suspending Time as Blocking Time in Real-Time Systems
This report presents a proof to support the correctness of the schedulability test for self-suspending real-time task systems proposed by Jane W. S. Liu in her book titled “Real-Time Systems” (Pages 164165). The same concept was also implicitly used by Rajkumar, Sha, and Lehoczky in RTSS 1988 (Page 267) for analyzing self-suspending behaviour due to synchronization protocols in multiprocessor s...
